He has spent last 12+ years of his experience exclusively driving Digital Transformations leveraging enterprise Agile and DevOps for various Fortune clients across geography (US, UK, Australia, France, India) while employed with Leading IT Service Companies (IBM, Cognizant, Capgemini and now Infosys). Patterns of Agile adoption in Banking Industry


Session Overview

Agile adoption and transformation experience for organizations in BFSI sector have many unique elements which makes it interesting and challenging. The sector is very much regulated where there are strict control points and detailed processes to comply which naturally inhibit Agile adoption. Further to the challenge, the traditional ways of working in this sector has resulted in a hierarchical and abit bureaucratic management culture which also imposes challenges in adopting a different culture endorsed by Agile.

This talk shall cover the aspects of how some of major financial organizations globally have attempted to address these challenges in their Agile Transformation journey and would also cover some of the examples of successful parents emerging from these case studies. The experience sharing of some of major patterns of success in Financial Industry is from my personal working engagement with organizations like HSBC (UK), Barclays (UK), ABN-Amro (Netherland), Westpac (Australia), Nationwide Building Society (UK), BNP Paribas Fortis (Belgium), ING, Citizen Bank (US) etc. The talk shall further cover how mature financial organizations have also adopted best practices from SAFe, Scrum@Scale and Spotify frameworks for scaling their Agile practices and what are the common hybrid patterns exhibited.
